A Publisher Vetting Checklist Built for Swiss Placements

If you would not cite the site in a client report, do not put your brand on it.

Buying or pitching a Swiss placement without vetting the publisher is how clean brands inherit dirty neighbourhoods. We treat publisher QA like procurement due diligence: named people, archive behaviour, outbound hygiene, indexation, and audience fit — then price.

Use the sections below as a shared checklist. If a vendor cannot clear it, the discount is irrelevant.

Judge the editors, not the media kit

Media kits sell reach. Bylines reveal whether humans still edit. Look for consistent author names that resolve to real professionals, correction notes, and a contact path that is not only a “submit your guest post” form. Anonymous dumps of SEO articles with stock photos are not journalism, regardless of the DR on the slide.

For YMYL topics — banking, insurance, medical — insist on clearer credentials. A finance tip from a nameless account on a .ch blog is a compliance problem waiting for a screenshot.

Archive depth beats homepage polish

Homepages get dressed for sales calls. Archives tell the truth. Scroll twelve months back. Is there a steady publishing rhythm, or a burst of posts whenever inventory needed filling? Do categories make topical sense, or is everything “business / health / tech / crypto”?

Longevity helps when the topic stayed coherent. Longevity alone does not redeem a domain that pivoted from spam to “Swiss news” last year. Cross-check with the history mindset in our red-flag guide.

Outbound patterns reveal the real business model

Sample outbound links across ordinary articles. Relevant citations to Swiss institutions, standards, and peer publications are healthy. Repeated paid neighbourhoods in gambling, adult, and aggressive medical claims are not. Your placement inherits that context.

Also note whether every article carries a commercial outbound link in the same templated sentence. That template is the product. You are buying adjacency to every other buyer.

Indexation and Swiss audience reality checks

Confirm key URLs are indexed and that organic landing pages match the claimed niche. A site that is live but largely deindexed is a billboard in a locked room. Geographic traffic should show a meaningful Swiss share if the pitch is “Swiss audience.”

Tools disagree on exact numbers; use them comparatively. What you want is consistency between story, indexation, and audience — not a single flattering screenshot.

Register and regional fit for DE, FR, and IT readers

Read the prose aloud test: does this sound like Swiss High German, or like content spun for Germany? Does the French read Romandie, or like a Paris affiliate farm? Italian for Ticino should not feel copy-pasted from a pan-Italian network.

Regional fit includes topics. A Geneva wealth audience is not identical to a St. Gallen SME audience. Publishers who understand those differences write differently — and attract different links in return.

Hand this checklist to whoever approves spend

Compress the above into five yes/no gates: real editors, coherent archive, clean outbound neighbourhood, indexation plus Swiss audience plausibility, language-region fit. Two hard nos end the discussion. One soft no demands a written exception.

That is how we keep guest post inventory and outreach targets client-safe. If you want us to run the checklist on a proposed vendor list, send it over. Programme options are on pricing.
